Building on its excellent reputation and clinical expertise in its field, our client’s new strategic plan places a strong emphasis on public affairs, including influencing, partnership-building, communications and business development. 


They are now looking to recruit an exceptional and dynamic Director of Public Affairs to increase their profile and promote their aims and objectives with decision-makers, key stakeholders and external partners, and head up a newly established Public Affairs team. 


This new and exciting role will have primary responsibility for developing, shaping and delivering the breadth of their public affairs work, including policy development, campaigning, communication, media work, stakeholder engagement, developing the business model and using evidence to inform policy and practice.


In addition to shaping externally-facing events, including an annual lecture and conference, the Director of Public Affairs will play a key role in developinginfluencing work around key campaigns, building communities by increasing membership and overseeing a programme of ambassadors and case studies; and using evidence to support messaging and influencing through their research programme and audit data.


The role will work closely with the CEO and other Directors, as well as Trustees and members of the Executive Committee, building and nurturing relationships with key external partners.


The successful individual will have significant experience and a strong track record of achievement at senior level in a national and/or medium-large organisation, preferably within a medical charity, although related sectors would be considered. A strategic and “big picture” thinker, they will have excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, and strong experience in campaigning and/or advocacy and influencing, as well as policy development and marketing and/or communications. They must also be dependable, conscientious, well-organised, proactive and creative. Experience of business development and running national events is also desirable.
