1. To provide leadership, management and direction to Sightsavers’ policy campaign’s public engagement strategies in the UK and Ireland.
2. Strengthen the Policy and Global Advocacy Directorate’s (PGA) ability to communicate with public audience in line with PGA’s influencing objectives.
1. Provide leadership in formulating and delivering Sightsavers’ policy campaign’s public engagement strategies in the UK
? In collaboration with Head of Campaigns and Policy Campaign Officer, formulate, manage and deliver a creative, ambitious, public engagement strategy to recruit and sustain public support for Sightsavers’ policy campaigning activities.
? In collaboration with the Policy Campaign Officer develop, manage and deliver a supporter engagement strategy, which engages and retains the public, develops our campaign supporter base, meets policy campaign objectives and integrates our supporter journeys with Sightsavers’ broader audiences.
? Identify and lead the development of strategic digital campaigning tools, approaches and materials in line with the campaign’s key objectives.
? Lead online campaigning and impact through our website, mailing lists and social media. Ensure internal and external digital profiling of key campaigning activities and campaign moments.
2. Lead and manage the public engagement strategy for Put Us in the Picture
? Day-to-day management (project management) and delivery of the Irish
campaign’s public engagement strategy.
? In collaboration with Head of Campaigns and Policy Campaign Officer (Ireland),
manage and deliver a creative, ambitious, public engagement strategy to recruit
and sustain public support for Sightsavers’ Ireland policy campaign.
? Develop campaign strategy, utilizing compelling digital tactics that promote and
lead to greater supporter engagement and participation (i.e. move campaign
supporters up the supporter engagement arc.)
? Manage campaign content in partnership with Policy Campaign Officer (Ireland),
including videos, graphics, and web copy
? Drive digital campaigning initiatives from concept through execution
3. Lead the effective monitoring and evaluation of the policy campaigns.
? Lead the development of tools that can monitor and evaluate the efficacy of
the policy campaign.
? Monitor current public engagement tools and methods. Provide analysis of
those outcomes and make recommendations for change.
4. Strengthen the Policy and Global Advocacy Directorate’s (PGA) ability to
communicate with public audience in line with PGA’s influencing
? Lead and Identify communication and digital opportunities within PGA
objectives (e.g. SDG implementation). Develop the specific requirements
needed to develop a communications strategy. Provide consultative support
through that process.
? Within PGA and in collaboration with the Communications Operations Team,
lead the development of digital assets for PGA.
? Provide expertise and direction on communication and digital opportunities
that arise from Sightsavers’ country level advocacy.
? Explore and identify the opportunities that exist to share knowledge across
Country Directors on advocacy. Act as PGA’s focal point in that

Jobholder Entry Requirements - the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required
Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
? Significant experience of working in a charity or international development organisations’ communications team, including specific experience of digital communications but with a working knowledge of all communications channels
? Experience of developing and implementing a public engagement strategy to encourage activism and support a policy campaign
? Project managing a communications/digital team to deliver short and long term communications objectives and activity
? Knowledge of current trends, tools and best practise for digital and public campaigning

? Developing digital tools for the recruitment and engagement of supporters
? Ability to think strategically and translate into effective implementation plans
